A 15-housing-unit apartment building cornerstone laying ceremony was held in Svilajnac. The apartment building is intended for provision of durable solutions for 14 refugee families and one socially vulnerable domicile family.

 

The project is funded by European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR) and implemented by the Greek NGO, European Perspective (EP) in cooperation with the municipality and the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia. The following representatives of the signatories to the contract attended the ceremony: Mr. Dobrivoje Budimirovic, the mayor of the municipality, Mr. Grigoris Cralis, programme coordinator – NGO European Perspective, Mr. Dragisa Dabetic, the Commissioner for Refugees as well as other guests.

 

Throughout 2008 within this project, building material for prefabricated houses with installation is to be delivered and the purchase of village houses for socially vulnerable refugee families is also planned. In 2007 the UNHCR project was implemented in Svilajnac municipality aiming at distribution of building material for self-help.
