Working meeting with all relevant stakeholders was organized for the first time in past 10 years by the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia with organizational support of IOM’s Institutional Support Project. Deputy-Prime Minister of the Government of Serbia Dr. Jovan Krkobabić also attended the working meeting. He spoke with trustees from all Serbian municipalities and has pointed out the need to support the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia in its activities for refugees and IDPs in Serbia. He also stressed that it is very important to achieve sufficient realization of both domestic and international politics and economic publics for the need of faster and more efficient problem solving. Other speakers at the working meeting were: UNHCR Representative in Serbia Mr. Lennart Kotsalainen, Belgrade City’s Secretary for social protection Mr. Vladan Djukić, director of the Fund for Aid to Refugees, Expelled and Displaced Persons from Novi Sad Mr. Dejan Pavlović and Mr. Marcel Grogan, IOM’s Institutional Support Project’s Team Leader.
Priorities for the following year were discussed at the working meeting with special focus on restitution of the rights in the countries of origin. Following guidelines, priorities and activities were outlined:

Continuation of protection of most vulnerable, endangered and sensible categories, both individuals and groups, together with persons accommodated in collective centers until adequate durable solutions are provided.

Design of state, regional, city and municipal strategies and action plans and adequate laws and regulations.

Formation of city and municipal councils for integration together with planning of possible budgetary solutions for regular financing.

Production of the program for durable housing and economic care together with selection of possible budgetary, funds, donor and credit funds and EU pre-accession funds.

Coordinated activities of all relevant stakeholders on realization of durable solutions for refugees and IDPs.

Cooperation with relevant international actors and neighboring countries regarding return of property, ownership, pension, working and other rights of refugees and IDPs.

Enhancement of organizational and human resources capacity of the Commissariat for Refugees’ and municipal trustees and initiation of establishment of regional and city trustees.
