On 5 May 2010, The Assembly of the Republic of Serbia adopted the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Refugees.

The approved legislation will allow the integration of refugees into the Republic of Serbia, of those people who do not wish to return to the countries from which they fled. The law stipulates that Serbia, in accordance with their capacity, solve housing problems of refugees by providing the use or lease of real property for a specified amount of time with allowances being made for the acquisition of the entrusted property should this prove a desirable and reasonable course of action.  It also envisages the possibilities of solving the housing problems of refugees through the allocation of funds for the improvement of housing conditions, purchase of building materials to start construction, purchase of village homes equipped with gardens, as well as through other donor programs.

The Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Refugees shall enter into effect eight days after its publication in the, ˝Official Gazette of RS.˝
