The Republic of Serbia allocated an additional 1.3 million euros from its budget for refugees and internally displaced persons

On Tuesday the 8th of June 2010 the Serbian Deputy Prime Minister for Social Policy and Social Services Dr. Jovan Krkobabic will hand over to the representatives of 60 municipalities/cities solutions on the repayment of financial assistance.

More specifically, the Commissariat for Refugees has allocated funds from the RS budget, in the amount of 130 million dinars, in order to provide housing as well as economic empowerment to some 500 families of refugees and internally displaced persons.  The aforementioned funds will provision for the purchase of 310 packages of construction materials intended for the completion of the initiated or the adaptation of inadequate housing facilities and award 165 grants for income generating activities. 

The formal ceremony, at which the solutions are to be presented, will be held on Tuesday the 8th of June 2010, in the “Palace of Serbia,” hall of “Belgrade,”  Mihajlo Pupin no. 2, beginning at noon.

The ceremony will be attended by the representatives of the Delegation of the European Union in Serbia, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the U.S. Embassy, the International Organization for Migration, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Commissariat for Refugees and representatives of the relevant institutions of the Republic of Serbia and Vojvodina.
