Two day working meeting for municipal trustees and representatives of international community at Zlatibor

Belgrade 25th June 2010 – The Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia in cooperation with the Danish Refugee Council, the Project, “Support for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons in Serbia,” funded by the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia, held a two day working meeting attended by trustees and the representatives of international community at Zlatibor from the 23rd to the 24th of June.

The first day of the work meeting was dedicated to the presentations being delivered by the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Serbia, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, UNHCR, representatives of the MARRI initiative, regional representatives involved in the conference “Durable Solutions for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons – Regional Cooperation,” and the representatives of the remaining non-governmental and international organizations in Serbia.

 

The Commissariat for Refugees, in the hopes of further improving the levels of cooperation with the municipal trustees, dedicated the second day of the working meeting to the consideration of questions and suggestions put forth by the trustees for refugees.

During the meeting, those present had the opportunity to hear the presentations delivered by the Commissioner for Refugees Mr. Vladimir Cucić, representative of the Delegation of the EU in the Republic of Serbia Ms. Marzija Pallota, the deputy of mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Mr. Tomas Moore, the deputy chief of the UNHCR in the Republic of Serbia Mrs. Angelita Cecere, leader of the legal team of the Danish Refugee Council Mr. Marcel Grogan, the representative of the cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister Office for social politics and  social services Mr. Rade Dubajić, the director of the fund for providing assistance to refugees, displaced and internally displaced persons in Vojvodina Mr.Radomir Kukobata, the deputy representative of the municipality of Čajetina Mr. Milan Lazović, the director of the MAARI initiative Mr. Trpe Stojanovskog, the representatives of the regional initiative namely the representative of the Republic of Montenegro Mr. Željko Šofranac, representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina Mr. Medžid Lipjankić, and Mr. Stanko Janić, the representative of the Republic of Croatia.

Parallel to the panel discussion, separate meetings of the representatives of the MAARI initiative and the work groups of the regional initiative, “Durable Solutions for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons – Regional Cooperation,” were also held.

The meeting, besides those already mentioned, was attended by representatives of the Embassies of the Republic of Hungary, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, the Swiss agency for development and cooperation, the Centre for protection and assistance to asylum seekers, the Commission for Missing Persons of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of labor and social policy and the Secretariat for Social Protection of the City of Belgrade.
