In the municipality of Doljevac, a building intended for use as social housing in protected conditions was formally opened

On Friday the 30th of July 2010, the ceremonial opening of a building comprised of ten housing units intended for the housing of refugees, the internally displaced as well as the socially vulnerable local population took place today in Doljevac. The aforementioned housing units have been built using the resources of the European Union through the instrument of pre accession aid for 2007 (IPA 2007) within the scope of the project, “Support for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons in Serbia.” The total value of the project in question amounts to 9.5 million euros, while from the municipality of Doljevac a total of 173,000 euros has been set aside for purpose of contributing to the construction of the housing units. The municipality of Doljevac has, in compliance to the duties outlined in the agreement pertaining to the realization of the project, set aside adequate land and infrastructural resources.  The project is being completed through the implementing partners, the Commissariat for Refugees and the Italian humanitarian NGO, INTESOS.

The keys of the apartments intended for use as social housing in protected conditions were distributed amongst their future tenants on this occasion. The building in question will in the near future come to accommodate 8 families of refugees, internally displaced persons as well as two socially vulnerable local families. Attending the formal ceremony for the opening of the building in Doljevac were, the municipal president of Doljevac Mr. Goran Ljubić, the head of the service for the reception, care and provisioning of humanitarian assistance of the Commissariat for Refugees Mrs. Draga Trninić and the head of the mission of INTERSOS in Serbia Mr. Marcello Rossoni.
