28th of September 2010, Kruševac – His excellency Mr. Volfram Mas, the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Serbia has, along with the major of the city of Kruševac Mr. Desimir Pavlović, the Commissioner for Refugees Mr. Vladimir Cucić, and the director of the German, non governmental organization ASB Mr. Ivan Marin, attended the ceremonial opening of the housing facilities intended for the accomodation of refugees and internally displaced persons.

The building in question has been built with the resources provided through the Office of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Germany under the patronage of the Stability Packt for South-Eastern Europe in cooperation with the ASB.

The total value of the project amounts to 208,350 euros, of which 165,000 euros were donated by the Office of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Germany, 20,000 by the city of Kruševac and 23,350 euros were donated by the German, non governmental organization ASB.

Implementation of the project in question is being undertaken through the partnership amongst the ASB, the city of Kruševac, the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia, the Centre for Social Employment of the city of Kruševac and the UNHCR. The project’s activities have provided for social housing in protected conditions for 10 families of refugees, internally displaced persons and socially vulnerable local citizens, all of whom were chosen by a commission comprised of the representatives of all the organizations involved in the project.

The opening ceremony was held at 11:00 in front of the building located at the address, Brane Janković, Kruševac on which occasion, the future tenants were presented with the keys to their appartments, as well as the contracts defining the conditions of their tenancy.
