Monday the 17th of January 2011 – The Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Dr. Jovan Krkobabić formally received those refugee families who through the humanitarian program, “Roof”, have managed to resolve their housing concerns. More precisely, the Commissariat for Refugees has, based on the endorsement of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Department of Finance, through the sale of supplementary postage stamps managed to raise 4,935,000 dinars with which it has purchased 8 households in order that the same might be used for the resolution of the housing concerns of the most vulnerable families of refugees. Owing to the aforementioned program, the acquisition of 7 households has been facilitated while the process of purchasing the one outstanding household is currently being conducted.
The funds collected through the program have enabled the families Stojanović, Jovanović, Milić, Opačić, Šućur, Vasiljević and Kertez, themselves refugees who had fled from Obrovac, Dvor, Zadar, Glina, Otočac and Bosanski Petrovac, to gain access to acceptable housing after having spent a considerable number of years as refugees.
The Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Jovan Krkobabić used this opportunity to congratulate the representatives of the families mentioned, on their having solved one of the most crucial concerns experienced by this category of persons, adding that the Government of the Republic of Serbia will continue in its efforts to provide acceptable living conditions for all those who as a consequence of the hostilities which transpired within the region have been made destitute.
Additionally, Dr. Krkobabić presented to the representatives of the 7 families, the decisions to allocated economic assistance amounting, some 20,000 dinars, from the budget of the Republic of Serbia as both a housewarming gift and congratulatory gesture.
