September 22, 2011- The Agreement of cooperation on implementation of a component of the Project "Improvement of living conditions and employment rights of refugees and displaced persons in Serbia," relating to construction of 15 units for social housing in supportive environments was signed in Kovin. These housing units were intended for solving housing issues of 12 families of refugees and internally displaced persons accommodated within the collective center "Čardak" in Deliblato. The remaining 3 housing units will be used for accommodation of socially vulnerable local families. The budget of 260,000 Euros set aside for this Project was provided by the EU with the assistance of the EU delegation in Serbia. The Project will be implemented in the period from February 1st to July 31st 2012 by the Housing Center. The American humanitarian organization “Habitat for Humanity” will invest 10,000 Euros, "Housing Center" 5,000 Euros and the Fund for Aid to Refugees, Expelled and Displaced Persons of Vojvodina 20,000 Euros in this Project. The municipality of Kovin will provide the building site with infrastructure and cooperation of the competent services, in order to realize the Project by the envisioned date.
