25 million RDS for housing solutions of the beneficiaries of the CC “Šatorsko naselje” in Kraljevo

Kraljevo, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 – Vladimir Cucić, the Commissioner for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia, and Ljubiša Simović, the mayor of Kraljevo, have signed the agreement on cooperation concerning the construction of prefabricated housing units for 99 internally displaced persons from Kosovo.

These persons are currently accommodated within a collective center Šatorsko naselje at the Old Airport in Kraljevo. On this occasion, the Commissioner Cucić stated that the Commissariat for Refugees set aside 25 million RSD from the national budget for solving housing issues of the families accommodated in Šatorsko naselje. He also mentioned that, out of the 20 collective centers on the territory of Kraljevo, only 2 are still opened – Šatorsko naselje and the collective center in Mataruška banja.

“By constructing these housing units, we are practically closing the remaining 2 collective centers, where 22 families and 150 persons are currently accommodated”, explained Cucić. He said that the families from Šatorsko naselje will be taken care of by spring next year and that 15 units intended for solving the issues of internally displaces persons from the collective center Hotel “Žiča” in Matarška banja will be built.

“The Commissariat for Refugees, in cooperation with the City of Kraljevo, has built over 200 housing units on the territory of Kraljevo, which makes it the most important constructor of units for social housing” said the Commissioner.  Ljubiša Simović, The mayor of Kraljevo, said that the act of building housing units for those accommodated within collective centers symbolizes “solution to a problem Kraljevo has been facing for many years”. “High inflow of refugees and displaced persons from Kosovo has, for the last two decades, caused many difficulties, because the existing road and rail network could not support this inflow, and this is the reason why projects of this kind, with the support of the Commissariat, present special events for Kraljevo”, said Simović.
