Thursday, September 29, 2011 – Expert meeting on the implementation of the Agreement on Readmission with the SEE countries, within the framework of regional initiative of Process of cooperation in SE, chaired by the Republic of Serbia from 2010 to 2012, was organized by the Commissariat for Refugees of the Republic of Serbia.

The meeting was attended by the representatives of the countries participating in the process of cooperation – Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey, as well as the representatives of NGOs, international organizations and regional initiative: IOM, MARRI, RCC, ICMPD and EU delegation in Serbia.

  

Acquired knowledge, practice and experiences on implementation of the Agreement were exchanged at the meeting. The representatives discussed ways to improve methodology in terms of data gathering and exchange, upgrading of coordination and cooperation between the countries in the region regarding readmission and developing mutual perspective and programs for reintegration of returnees (available assistance according to the existing needs, education, employment, social assistance etc.)

The aim of the meeting was to conceptualize a unique report which would document the experiences of policy development in SEE countries and identify good practice of developing sustainable mechanisms for comprehensive planning regarding readmission.
