Zaječar, 15 October 2013. - Ten families - two refugee families, six families of IDPs from collective center Gamzigradska banja and two domicile socially vulnerable families - received the keys of new apartments in Zaječar. These ten families now has a sustainable housing solution through the EU project "Support to the implementation of strategy for IDPs, refugees and returnees in Serbia."
This project is funded by the European Union and implemented by UNHCR. The total value of construction work, furniture and equipment is 224.800 EUR. Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia is the beneficiary institution of pre-accession EU funds allocated for the closure of collective centers in Serbia in accordance with the model defined in the National Strategy for Resolving the Problems of Refugees and IDPs in Serbia.
Newly opened building is the fourth in a row, consisted of 54 housing units built to address the housing needs of refugees and internally displaced persons in Zaječar.
Handing over the keys of new residential units provided the housing for the remaining members of the collective center Villas DP "Romulijana". This enabled closure of the collective center.
