2013. organized return of refugees to Croatia and Bosnia has started

Organized return of refugees to the Republic of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina for this year began in mid-September. Croatia’s entry into the European Union changed certain procedures regarding the border crossing and customs clearance, and subsequently compliance with processes established last year delayed the start of organized return.

Republic of Serbia and the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration did everything that takes for a simple and quick return of all interested in this process.

Commissariat provides assistance to returnees in the form of transport of goods and people to their places of origin and accompanies them to the border with Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The return process is carried out in cooperation with the Red Cross and other authorities.

The conditions for the returnees are: living in another country for at least 12 months before moving to the country of origin; only used items from their homes are allowed to be moved. They need documents confirming previous stay abroad, proof of registration of residence in the country of return, a list of used household items, and for returnees to Croatia a statement of the date of relocation to Croatia and that the person is the owner of the used items, as well as warrant authorizing the shipping to Croatia.

There is no deadline for applications. Organized return with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia will continue over the next year.

All interested persons who meet the requirements for this type of assistance can contact the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia on the telephone numbers 011/285-75-72 and 011/285-75-74.
