During 2013 six collective centers have been closed: "Stara Ciglana" in Vlasotince , "Gamzigradska Banja" in Zaječar , "Barake Ratko Mitrovic" in Požega, "Kolar" in Jagodina, "Kaluđerica" in Belgrade, “Mataruška banja" in Kraljevo.
Providing housing solutions for users of collective centers "Šatorsko naselje – Stari aerodrom" in Kraljevo and Primary school "Vitko i Sveta" in Gadžin Han, which will be closed during next year, has started.
Closing the six collective centers completed the plan for 2013. Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, in collaboration with UNHCR and implementing partners, has started planning for 2014.
Former users of collective centers were given different types of housing solutions. They could opt for social housing in protected conditions, prefabricated houses, village houses, construction material or one-time financial assistance to leave the collective center.
The closure of collective centers and housing solutions are financed from the budget of the Republic of Serbia, the EU pre-accession funds and UNHCR funds.
Thanks to the support of the European Union, funds for the closing of the remaining collective centers located in Central Serbia are provided. During the next three years remaining 1,500 residents of collective centers will get housing solutions. Thus would end a decades-old collective housing of refugees and internally displaced persons in Serbia.
