The Government of the Republic of Croatia on the 27th of December 2013 adopted a Decree on Amending the Law on the residence which extended the deadline for registration and cancellation of residence until the end of 2014.

Until that date, all Croatian citizens, who on the date of 29th December 2012, when the Law on residence entered into force, were abroad for more than one year, are required to register their temporary departure and to submit documentation about the reasons.

If they do not do this, ex officio procedures of cancellation from registers on residence will be initiated.

Originally, the deadline for registration was one year from the date when Law enters into force, 29 December 2013.
