The representatives of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs visited Swiss Federal Office for Migration (FOM) in Bern on the 3rd and 4th of June 2014. Serbian delegation was led by Vladimir Cucić, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, and the Swiss delegation was led by HE Eduard Gnesa, Special Ambassador of the Swiss Federal Office for Migration.

On the first day of the visit working meetings were held. Commissioner Cucić informed the Swiss hosts about the consequences of floods in Serbia and the measures taken by the Commissariat. There was talk of migration flows in Serbia, about the project financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), as well as on future forms of cooperation. Representatives of Serbia and Switzerland presented their asylum systems, and one of the topics was Serbian citizens and asylum seekers in Switzerland.

Commissioner Cucić thanked the Swiss partners for the help with the organization of the seminar of the Institute of Humanitarian Law from Sanremo, held in November last year. FOM representatives have expressed their readiness to help organizing this seminar in 2014.

On the second day of the visit Serbian delegation visited the Reception center for asylum seekers in Vallorbe and EVAM, an institution which implements with great success integration programs for asylum seekers in Switzerland, while awaiting a decision on asylum application.

Both sides have expressed willingness to continue cooperation and migration dialogue and expectations of the partnership to be improved in the future.
