The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia via the “Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument” (TAIEX) of the European Commission, organized second part of the Expert Mission on indicators for reintegration of returnees. The expert mission was held in Belgrade on 23-25 of March, 2015 in the premises of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.
The mission brought together high level experts dealing with the reintegration of returnees in the Republic of Serbia.
The aim of the second part of the Expert Mission was to finalize the list of indicators suitable for monitoring the effective reintegration of returnees in Serbia and the durability of these measures in order to prevent new departures of returnees to the EU. The usefulness of indicators for monitoring and evaluation is broadly acknowledged since the indicators are measurements that provide information about past and current trends and assist relevant institutions in making decisions that affect future outcomes. The development of a list of indicators is necessary in order to gather more concrete data on what has been achieved so far in order to reintegrate the returnees and prevent secondary migration.
Considering that the identification of the most appropriate indicators can be very difficult, the support from the EU Member State expert(s) with technical expertise to understand the strengths and limitations of specific measures was of high importance to help with finding and choosing the set of indicators.
