Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration has met Austrian Ambassador at Serbia, Mr. Johannes Eigner, on 21 September at the premises of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.
Commissioner Cucic and Ambassador Eigner discussed current situation regarding increased influx of migrants, so as measures that state of Serbia has conducted. Commissioner expressed attitude that Serbia wants to be part of the solution for the problem of migrants and that Serbia does everything possible to stabilize the problem, but that the help from international community is necessary.
Commissioner pointed the fact that Serbia is not the part of the so called Dublin system, but that the percentage of registered migrants is extremely high, unlike the members which percentage has dropped from 75% to 12% last month.
Austrian ambassador stated assessment which shows that Austria will face 80.000 asylum requests this year.
Commissioner Cucic and Ambassador Eigner expressed readiness to cooperate and help in any way, in exchanging information so as cooperation in exchanging knowledge and experience.
