Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, with the support of the Swiss Cooperation Office Serbia and in cooperation with the weekly "Vreme", organized a panel discussion titled "Migratory flows in 2015 and future challenges".

The forum was held on 18 December 2015, on the occasion of the International Day of Migrants in the Press Center UNS, and was attended by Vladimir Cucić, Commissioner for Refugees, Jean-Daniel Ruch, Swiss Ambassador to Serbia, An-Brigit Krum-Hansen, Head of Department for Legal Protection of Refugees, UNHCR, Dragana Savic from the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Issues, the Department for International Cooperation, European Integration and Projects and Andrej Ivanji, Editor with the magazine "Vreme".

The main topic was the current migratory wave. Zoran Stanojevic, editor with the National television and moderator of the panel discussion, focused on the question whether the political response of the EU and Serbian officials on the current situation was adequate, how Serbia and its institutions has dealt with the refugee crisis, what are the plans when it comes to expanding the capacity of the system migration in Serbia and how to effectively use available resources.

Panelists agreed that the current crisis is perhaps the most important refugee crisis that Europe met since the end of World War II, and that until the settlement of conflicts in the countries of origin of refugees, forced evictions will continue.

Commissioner Cucić stressed that Serbia is ready for the coming year, together with foreign partners and the Government.
