Embassy of Slovakia in Serbia handed out eight gas stoves to the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, intended for Reception-transit center in Kikinda, which should be opened in ten days.
The donation was handed by Ambassador of Slovakia to Serbia Ms Dagmar Repčekova. During the short ceremony she noted that the country has helped Serbia during the migrant crisis, and will continue to provide help.
Ms Repček stated that last year Slovakia donated 371,000 euros for the provision of quilts, blankets and clothing. Also, there are ongoing talks with one Slovak company for additional shipment of used ambulances.
Mr Ivan Gerginov, Assistant Commissioner for Refugees and Migration thanked Slovakia for the donation, stating that this help is very important.
"Help that came through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism from Slovakia, which is among the first to respond to the appeal, was appropriate at that point," said Gerginov and added that the Reception-transit center in Kikinda should be opened in the course of next ten days.
Mr Gerginov reminded that the Ambassador of Slovakia with her associates and volunteers was in Sid when the situation with migrants was extremely difficult, and that the supply of milk for the kids was provided by Slovakia.
