Republic of Slovakia donated 30,000 euros

Аmbassador of the Republic of Slovakia, Ms. Dagmar Repcekova, accompanied by Ms. Karla Vusterova, Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovakia who is visiting Serbia, handed a donation of 30,000 euros to the Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Mr. Vladimir Cucic. The donation is to be used for enhancing the capacity of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration in the domain of asylum and migration.

Mr Cucic expressed gratitude not only for the donation, but for the support that Republic of Slovakia demonstrates unlike more than two thirds of other European countries, thus proving that the Balkan Route is not closed.

"Two thirds of European countries believe that Western Balkans Route is closed. Therefore the support we receive from Slovakia when it comes to migrants is far more valuable than the money, especially when Slovakia presides over Visegrad Group," declared Cucic.

Mr. Cucic said that some 4,000 migrants are accomodated in Serbia, while 300 persons are outside of collective centers. Half of them are located in Belgrade.

Аmbassador emphasized that Slovakia always aimed to react promptly in various crisis. She also reminded that her country also aided Serbia during the floods in 2014, as well as through the Regional Housing Programme for Refugees from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
