In the light of the International Migration Day, Commissariat for Refugees and Migration supported the exhibition of handcrafts by migrant women from the Adasevci reception center in the Hall 1a of the Belgrade Fair, organized by the Novi Sad Humanitarian Center. Skilled migrant women from Afghanistan, Iraq and Iran demonstrated oustanding creativity and talent in exhibiting the hand made Christmas decorations, gifts and winter accessories.
 
The aim of the exhibition is to showcase creative potential of migrant women from the reception center Adasevci. Sewing workshop was organized for these women in order to support their creativity and raise the quality level of the time they spend in the center. 

Deputy Commissioner for Refugees and Migration, Svetlana Velimirovic visited the exhibition.

„All the centers feature various activities in order to educate the women who are facing the entirely new culture, new conditions and new customs in our country. These women are very hardworking and motivated to learn, and it is extremely important to support them.“

Svetlana Velimirovic pointed out that the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration regularly conducts public opinion resesarch which shows that the prejudice against migrants typically exists in the places where migrants are not even located, while local communities populated with migrants retain a positive attitude.

All the money from the exhibition goes to the migrant women in Adasevci.

The next exhibition will be organized on the 24th of December in Belgrade’s Dorcol Platz.
