On Friday, May 4th, at the Reception Center in Presevo as well as on Saturday, May 5th, in the Reception Center in Pirot, one of the most famous professional drummers in the Balkans, Dragoljub Djuricic, held a joint percussion workshop for young migrants and the local youth from these two municipalities.

Young migrants from the reception centers in the south of Serbia and the youngsters from the youth associations from Presevo and Pirot had the opportunity to hear the experiences of one of the most successful professional drummers in the region and to get acquainted with various types of percussion and learn of creative ways of creating sound and rhythm.

Dynamic sound of instruments in the reception centers and the joyful faces of children and youngsters who were carefully following the instructions of the famous drummer were a wonderful sight.

"This is very important for us, because it animates migrants who have been staying in the Republic of Serbia for a long time and naturally became nervous," said Slobodan Savovic from the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.

The workshops are organized within the Support to Migration Management in the Republic of Serbia.

The European Union (EU) is the largest donor of the Republic of Serbia in the domain of migration management. Since 2015, the EU has donated more than EUR 98 million for humanitarian assistance and protection of migrants, in particular for the protection of children, for providing reception and accommodation conditions in reception centers and asylum centers, including food, health care and education, assistance to local communities where migrants are located in order to strengthen social cohesion, assist the Republic of Serbia in border management and fight against human trafficking, as well as assistance for capacity building of the Republic of Serb Republic institutions are involved in migration management.
