Representatives of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, together with the colleagues from IOM Serbia, participated in a study visit to Spain from 5-7 June 2018, organized within the framework of the European Union Support to the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.

The aim of the visit was to introduce the representatives of this institution to the asylum system in Spain. During the first working day, meetings and exchange of experiences with the representatives of the International Organization for Migration in Madrid and the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare were organized, along with the visit to the asylum-reception center "CAR Vallecas".

In order for the representatives of the Commissariat to get acquainted with integration practices, a visit to the Directorate General for Social Services and Integration was organized on the second day of the visit, as well as a visit to the Center for Participation and Integration of the Migrant Population. The visit included familiarization with the Madrid City Emergency Plan for Emergency Situations for the Reception and Arrangement of Migrants, Asylum Seekers and Refugees, and the departure to the SAMUR - Short Stay Center of Migrants and the Emergency Center "Meja Lequerica" in the jurisdiction of the City of Madrid. The second working day was concluded with the visit to the CEAR Humanitarian Reception Center managed by a non-governmental organization.

The third day of the study visit included a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Interior - Department for Foreigners and Borders, a visit to the Center with Enhanced Police Detention Center, and a meeting with representatives of the General Sub-Directorate for International Protection.
