Deputy Major of the City of Belgrade and Commissioner Cucic visited the construction site in Kamendin

Deputy Mayor of the City of Belgarde Goran Vesic, Secretary for Social Protection Natasa Stanisavljevic, Secretary for Investment Luka Petrovic, President of the Zemun Municipality Dejan Matic and Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Vladimir Cucic visited the construction site for 270 apartments for refugee families from BiH and Croatia within the Regional Housing Project in Kamendin. The construction works, worth 7.7 million euros, are making great progress and the apartments will be ready in February 2019.

- For these 270 apartments, we had more than 1,500 requests, which indicates that there are still refugees who did not find a roof over their heads. In the coming years, another 900 apartments will be built, Vesic said, adding that this will solve the housing issue for a large number of refugees.

According to Mr. Vesic, until 2014, the City of Belgrade, together with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration and other state institutions, has provided about 60 apartments for refugees, and since 2014, another 1,134 apartments for refugee families, of which the City of Belgrade has built 209 and 925 together with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.
