Migrant schoolers at the Asylum Center in Krnjaca received backpacks, notebooks and other necessary school supplies for the beginning of the school year. Slavko Gak, Secretary for Education and Child Protection of the City of Belgrade, Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia and Rudi Paf, representative of the Tzu Chi Foundation, wished the kids a successful start of the new school year by giving them all necessary school accesories that were also distributed to all migrant schoolers in Serbia.

The total of 348 pupils were enrolled in 33 primary schools throughout Serbia. All children have undergone a mandatory medical exam. In cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, this year 40 children will also be included in the obligatory preparatory preschool program, which will be held in the premises of the municipal schools or at the preschools.

A total of 81 pupils will attend nine Belgrade primary schools, while in the case of an increased influx of migrants in the upcoming period, more room is available at other Belgrade schools.

After the ceremonial distribution of backpacks and school supplies, a Memorandum of Understanding between Tzu Chi Foundation and the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration was signed in AC Krnjaca. The Memorandum was signed by the Commissioner Vladimir Cucic and the representative of the Foundation Rudi Paf. On that occasion, both expressed great satisfaction with their successful three years of cooperation.
