Foundation stone was laid today in Ub for the construction of 20 apartments for refugee families from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, residing in the municipality of Ub, within the fifth subproject of the Regional Housing Programme in the Republic of Serbia (RHP).

The funds for the construction of these 20 apartments were provided partly from the RHP Donor Fund, managed by the Bank for Development of the Council of Europe, and partly from the municipal budget. RHP fund donated 59 million dinars, while the Ub municipality contributed 4 million dinars. The contractor is "GRAĐEVINAR" llc.

The event was attended by Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Commission for Coordination of the Process of Permanent Integration of Refugees, Vladimir Cucic, Commissioner for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Darko Glisic, President of the Municipality of Ub, Nikolas Bizel, Representative of the Delegation of the European Union to Serbia , Bojan Stevic, State Secretary in the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Ivana Nikolic, Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dragan Katuca, Director of the Project Implementation Unit in Public Sector, Hans F. Schodder, Representative of the UNHCR in Serbia, John Clayton, Representative of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Tim Swett, Refugee Coordinator at the US Embassy as well as representatives of other state and international institutions and organizations and the beneficiaries.

"Today we are opening a construction site in Ub to build 20 apartments in which 55 beneficiaries will be accommodated. The works, worth 415,690.18 euros, should be completed in June 2019. I would like to mention that part of the Housing programme in Ub also envisages the purchase of 17 vilage houses in the amount of 187,000 euros, which has been realized, as well as the allocation of 20 packages of construction materials in the amount of 180,000 euros, for which realization in progress, " said Minister Dacic.

Commissioner Cucic thanked all the partners and donors for the support and assistance within the Regional Housing Programme which is being implemented at full capacity throughout the Republic of Serbia.
