Exhibition Memories Left Behind opened in Belgrade

Within the European Union Support to Migration Management in the Republic of Serbia an exhibition of photographs "Memories Left Behind" was presented today in front of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade. The photographs are featuring the memories of thousands of children who have passed through Serbia since the beginning of the increased influx of migrants.

"Although for the largest number of migrants Serbia is not the ultimate destination, we have found ourselves in the epicentre of migration flows. Over a million people have passed through our country since June 2015, each with their life story, unique and troubling," said Aleksandra Dimic from the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration.

Paul Henri Presset spoke on behalf of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, which is the largest donor for migration management in Serbia, pointing out that some 4,500 migrants are still present in Serbia.

"This exhibition is important for many reasons, mostly because it highlights the problems of this population and brings them closer to the local population in the municipalities and cities where migrants are located."

The exhibition was shown in five cities throughout Serbia.
