Assistant Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Ivan Gerginov attended a two-day international conference titled "Migration Crisis - Institutional Response", held on October 23 and 24 in Sombor, organized by the Ombudsman of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.

In addition to introductory remarks, Gerginov presented the experience of the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration since the beginning of the increased influx of migrants to date, with a special emphasis on the overall respect of human rights of migrants and achieving international standards in care and reception.

Apart from the representatives of the Commissariat, the police, the judiciary, the army, local self-governments, centers for social work, academic institutions, as well as domestic and international non-governmental organizations, representatives of institutions from Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany and Macedonia also took part in the Conference.

This is the second conference in Sombor organized by the Provincial Ombudsman on the topic of migrants and the migration crisis.
