International Migrants Day marked in RC Obrenovac

A celebration marking the International Migrants Day was organized today in the Reception Center in Obrenovac. 

Children from the asylum and reception centers throughout Serbia sang, recited, played and Serbian national dances, while adults demonstrated various talents and shared their life stories.
 
Throughout the diverse Program, an Iranian Woman Mahana Jami spoke of holding a National Para Record and a Guinness World Record in climbing, Anurin Askar from Avghanistan who came second at the City Race in Sombor and her father Ghanim shared their story, Soltani Soulgani Farnoush from AC Krnjaca presented her paintings, while Мuhamed Abasi talked about cleaning the Sot lakeside with other volunteers from Principovac Reception Center, to name a few.
 
International Migrants Day is celebrated on December 18th. It was established by the UN General Assembly Decision of 4 December 2000, as a result of the large and growing number of migrants around the globe. The International Migrants Day is also an opportunity to promote the overall respect for the basic human rights of migrants.
 
The event marking the International Migrants Day was organized in cooperation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the support of the Swiss Government.
