Ceremonial awarding of keys for 11 apartments for refugees in Zrenjanin

A ceremonial hand over of keys for 11 apartments for refugees from Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, within the fourth subproject of the Regional Housing Programme was held today in Zrenjanin. The newly built apartment building was financed from the RHP Fund with 275,000 euros and with the contribution of the City of Zrenjanin amounting to 6 million dinars. The contractor is "Kej" LLC Valjevo.

The event was attended by Ivica Dacic, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Commission for Coordination of the Process of Permanent Integration of Refugees, Vladimir Cucić, Commissionar for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia, Cedomir Janjic, Mayor of Zrenjanin, H.E. Sem Fabrizi, Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union in Serbia, H.E. Andrea Orizio, Ambassador and Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Ivana Jelic, Representative of the UNHCR in Serbia, Janne Knutrud, Deputy Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Serbia, Ivan Bosnjak, State Secretary of the Ministry of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Dragan Katuca, Director of the Project Implementation Unit in Public Sector, as well as representatives of other state and international institutions and organizations, partner countries, and beneficiaries.

First Deputy Prime Minister Ivica Dacic thanked all participants of RHP, donors and local self-government and citizens of Zrenjanin who embraced a large number of refugees during difficult times. Ambassadors Sem Fabrici and Andrea Orizio, Mayor of Zrenjanin Cedomir Janjic, State Secretary Ivan Bosnjak and Assistant Commissioner Ivan Gerginov also addressed the gathering, while Goran Tomas thanked the donors on behalf of the beneficiaries. 

Subproject 4 of the RHP is worth more than 13 million euros. Within this project, a total of 661 housing solutions are awarded: 30 prefabricated houses, 261 apartment units, 300 packaged of building material and 70 village houses.

Regional Housing Programme (RHP) was set up to provide durable housing solutions to vulnerable refugees and displaced persons following the 1991-1995 conflicts on the territory of former Yugoslavia. The RHP is implemented by Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro and Serbia and mostly financed by the international donor community. The main donor is the European Union. The other donors are the United States of America, Germany, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, Turkey, Luxembourg, Spain, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and the Slovak Republic.
