Commissioner for Refugees and Migration Vladimir Cucic and H.E. Sem Fabrizi, the Ambassador and the Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia opened a renovated part of the Reception Center for migrants in Bosilegrad. The renovation was funded within the European Union Support to Migration Management in the Republic of Serbia. Works worth € 465,000 included the construction of a sanitary switchboard with an outpatient clinic, distribution kitchen with dining room, as well as sports ground, video surveillance, and outdoor landscaping, while the accommodation capacity was expanded by 67 beds.
Accommodation units are now in accordance with EASO standards in terms of the required square meters per person. Each room has a separate toilet in order to provide adequate conditions for a longer stay of migrants, especially families. The Reception Center itself is now equipped with an adequate access ramp for people with disabilities.
There are currently 70 migrants accommodated in the Reception Center in Bosilegrad, mostly families from Iran and Afghanistan. Nearly a third of them (23) are children up to the age of 18.
